If you are looking for a smaller sized vehicle that is agile, cute and has some great performance, then look no further than that of a city car. They are compact and efficient which makes them perfect for inner-city and busy commuting. Their small size makes it easier to travel around cities whilst having the ease of parking and fitting through tight roads. However, they are the smallest type of vehicle so they don't have the same practicalities that other cars such as estates or crossovers may offer. But don't let that put you off, they are amongst the most affordable cars we have here to offer here at All Car Leasing and are perfect for both personal car leasing and business car leasing- be sure to check below for some of our favourites below.
The Zoe is a brilliant city car produced by notorious French manufacturer Renault. It is iconic due to its stylish looks as well as being Renaults first all-electric vehicle. This makes it massively affordable as there is no need for petrol, making running costs very low, as well as the avoidance of paying road tax. The Zoe also has great style with its bold lines and modern interior with a small and nifty infotainment system allowing access to navigation and phone calls at the ease of the touch. The Renault Zoe can manage 0-62mph in 11.9 seconds with a top speed of 84mph so is nifty for Renault's electric car entrant.
The Citroen C1 is a nifty little hatchback with great practicality and stylish looks. The Aygo is one of Toyota's stand out vehicles and is one of the most popular city cars due to its sharp looks and reasonable price point. It's very economical, averaging around 67.2-68.8 mpg (manufacturer figures) from its 1L 69 Bhp petrol engine. Customisation options are also very good and a vibrant choice of paints are available, along with lots of trim options offering various alloy wheels, privacy glass, upgraded infotainment systems and styling packs.
The Volkswagen Up is a tiny hatchback sharing the same platform as the Skoda Citigo, the Up is one of the smallest hot hatchbacks available on the market with some great capabilities. The Up has more space than it looks although the majority of this is in the front of the cabin. It also comes with the choice of a more powerful GTI variant which sports a 1.0L turbo petrol with 115 Bhp, giving the car a 0-60 time of just 8.8 seconds - while at the same time offering an average fuel economy of 59mpg! The Vauxhall Adam made its debut to the market in 2012 and is a fairly common vehicle you will see on British roads and wow... they are a pleasure. It comes with a choice between a variety of different trim levels and the option between a 1.2L or 1.4L engine, with a huge range of exciting colours to choose between. The previous model to the Ford KA Plus was the standard Ford KA which could be considered to be the godfather of city cars as due to its small size and affordability. The Hyundai i10 is a great city-car when it comes to coupling affordability with style, and shares a similar body type to that of the Kia Picanto and Volkswagen UP. The Picanto is the smallest model in the Kia range, it's a quirky little 5 door hatchback which shares the same great tech available in the Ceed, Optima and Sportage. The front of the cabin is nice and spacious however like with most city cars the room is limited in the back seats. The Picanto is available with 2 small petrol engines, a 1.0L with 66 Bhp and a 1.25L with 84 Bhp - we would recommend opting for the latter if motorway driving is a part of your everyday commute however the 1.0L engine will be absolutely fine for driving around town whilst maintaining good fuel economy. While the standard Picanto models are certainly understated in their styling, there is a GT-Line trim if you prefer something on the sportier side.
If you are struggling to find a city car and are looking for something that is unique and has great practicality, then be sure to consider the Renault Twingo. In terms of practicality, it has folding rear seats to offer a huge amount of space when you have no passengers and surprisingly the Twingo stores its engine in the rear as well, something you see usually in sports cars, certainly not city cars. It also features some brilliant driver assistance systems to keep you safe and intact, such as lane departure warning and hill start assist, all at a great and affordable price.
