Suzuki Swift Sport 2018

The all-new Suzuki swift sport released June 1st, 2018 with the lower trim levels of the swift revised in 2017 to be considered the fourth facelift of the model, the sport was teased back in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show but has been out of reach until now, the facelift saw a revised body shape, front and rear bumpers, the cars had looked the same since 2013 after a few minor updates with the last sport being styled from 2012-2017.

What is new for the 2018 Swift Sport?

The 2018 model of the Suzuki Swift Sport has been partnered with a 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine fitted with a turbo for forced induction. The speed of the Swift has always been it's biggest selling point, not in a straight line, but around the corners, and this latest generation is no different the sports suspension coupled with the lightweight and rigid chassis means that the power plant doesn't have to pull the weight that competitors such as the Ford Fiesta and Audi A1 have. With a kerb weight of 975 kg the car utilises its low centre of gravity and updated aerodynamics to keep the car glued to the road around a corner. A much-needed infotainment system update has been included the microscopic Pioneer screen has been removed for a full touchscreen, Sat Nav, Media, DAB system. The new Swift Sport also comes with a personalisation package that allows options such as wheel bolt covers and centre covers in the exclusive Champion yellow, wheel decals are also a subtle touch available. The classic stripe set is available for £299.00 inc VAT.

Is it still a Suzuki Sport?

Of course the Suzuki Swift Sport would not be able to roll off the forecourt if it wasn't the flagship in small hot hatches from the manufacturer. The car now includes all of the mod cons such as keyless entry and start, rear parking camera and smartphone link to the previously mentioned upgraded infotainment system. The Swift Sport still uses a reasonably small power plant to deliver its performance the sport is still the focus with a flat bottomed steering wheel, a double exhaust tip paired with the Sport exclusive 17" alloy wheel rims. Internally the embossed upholstery and brushed steel pedals coupled with the red piano vinyl and gradient dials add to the feel.

Power and performance

The 2018 Swift Sport is available only as a 5 door front wheel drive, to save weight and the 138 horsepower turbocharged SHVS engine has been designed to be light and nimble offering power when required but also economic when you restrain your right foot. The car has been optimised for the family with 5 doors and reasonable rear legroom for the size of vehicle, however, the six-speed manual gearbox puts the raw small hatchbacks power down to a listed 0-62 mph time of just 8.1 seconds, although it won't be breaking any acceleration records or speeding records, topping out at 130 mph the new Suzuki Swift Sport is a great budget hot hatch.

The new Sport is available in Burning Red pearl metallic, Speedy Blue metallic, Pure White pear, Mineral Grey metallic, Super Black pearl and the exclusive Champion Yellow. The new Swift sport retails at £16,499 inc VAT with £1,500 introductory discount ending July 2018. Swift technology

The latest Swift is packed full of technology not only for comfort or convenience but safety too, although the focus of any hot hatch is usually the acceleration and handling the safety and stopping power are often included to boost the standard spec, the new swift sport includes high beam assist and adaptive cruise control, however, the ABS and ESP braking system has been built to stop quick, the benefits of lane departure warning and smart hill hold means that the car does everything you would expect from a Swift and more.
